    Book details

Early on the morning of May 19, 1948, the long siege of Jerusalem's Old City is lifted as patriot soldiers break through the Zion Gate. But the celebration is short-lived-a long battle ensues. Moshe Sachar, a professor and strategist for the Haganah group, must keep the movement's momentum alive in the face of a dissenting mayor and a disguised SS assassin who has infiltrated the group. Meanwhile, Rachel, his pregnant wife, tends to the growing numbers of wounded at the hospital.
Bodie and Brock Thoene bring to life the stories of a striking cast of characters in an epic story of heroism, tragedy, romance, and faith set against a momentous turning point in the history of the world's most sacred city.

It is 19 May, 1948. The state of Israel is five days old. The city of Jerusalem is tenuously poised for a clash that will be critical in the life of the new country. Holding the keys to Israeli victory is a diverse, rag-tag group: Peter Wallich, once a teacher of agriculture in the kibbutz, now instructing teens in the assembly of Molotov cocktails; the 74-year-old Mother Superior, who desperately wants to preserve her convent from annihilation; Commander Moshe Sachar and his wife Rachel, who cling together amidst the horrors of war; and an Arab street urchin, Daoud, who repays the kindness of the "infidels" in the best way he knows how. Interspersed throughout is the appearance of a mysterious old gardener, with wounds on the palms of both hands.

Very interesting book. Not one you can put down very easily. The authors know there stuff and have done a lot of very in depth research. The details are very authentic. These books in The Zion Legacy Series are all very good. Have read them all. Can't get them quick enough. What,s next? By the way 5 stars is not enough for any of them. They are a very high calibre. The whole set is riveting. Well done to Brock & Bodie Thoene may God Bless them both with their work.

Love this series although there is a lot of detail about the 'fights' that I find difficult to follow but I love the personal stories.Book was in good condition my only gripe is that I ordered two books from the seller and paid for the postage twice even though they came in ONE simple package!!!!

The story is moving and helps me under stand what the Jewish people struggled with. It fills in the gaps in normal reporting on history and brings it alive. It's a good action packed story for anyone, but would mostly appeal to Christians that don't believe they have replaced the Jews as Gods people.
