Beginning with the creation of man and ending with the revelation of a new world, readers will revel in this epic saga of warriors, rebels, poets, and kings, all called upon by God to reveal His enduring love for mankind. Ultimately, God's plan is fulfilled in the story of Jesus the Messiah, whose life, death and resurrection brings salvation to one and all.

This book is groundbreaking in its lively novelization of original film scripts (from The Bible mini-series) that have been based on the Bible with such great skill. The book is also read on CDs by Keith David who has a wonderful range to his voice. The first time I read the book I also listened to the CDs for chapters 1-3 - looking at the stories of Abraham, Moses, Joshua & Samson which was a great way to get a feel for the book. There is also a short Author's Note read by Mark Burnett and a perfect, poetic Prologue read by Roma Downey telling the tale of Noah which is an absolute joy to listen to.I read chapters 4-10 without the CDs as I was in a hurry to finish but I will enjoy listening to all the CDs at a later date.Chapter 4 tells the story of David, chapter 5 the story of Daniel and chapters 6-10 the story of Jesus up to his final appearance to the Apostle John on the island of Patmos. The book is a great read and the familiarity and excitement of the story increases towards the second half and thereafter. There are some lovely touches in the telling of the Nativity, the calling of Peter, the account of Jesus meeting the woman taken in adultery and her accusers, Paul explaining himself to his fellow Christians and the story of Jesus and Nicodemus. In that last story we are told, "The wind blows where it wishes" highlighting the action of both the wind and The Holy Spirit. This book, 'A Story of God and all of us' and the other books accompanying The Bible mini-series are in my opinion very much inspired and will bring about change in our views of the stories of the Bible so that we see them once more as truly dynamic and capable of inspiring change in us.
