Dr. Megan Bradley has witnessed a murder & had to perform a post mortem C-section on the victim to save her baby. Unable to deal with the whole trauma, Megan flees the rescue mission clinic at Corpus Christi to her hometown Jolly Mill to give herself time to heal - because of course, Jolly Mill is a safe place to be, nothing dangerous ever happens there! It also gives her the time to focus on her friends. Her best friend Lynley is beside herself as her mother, Kirstie, suffers from constant blackouts and disappears frequently. Kirstie has been diagnosed with Alzhiemer's but neither she or Lynley are convinced of the diagnosis. Kirstie wants Megan to look into it.Gerard Vance follows Megan to Jolly Mill. He knows she won't tell anyone what she saw. He also knows that she will be struggling to deal with it on her own. He's come as her support, but also to prove his love & God's love for her. As an ex-cop he is also a helpful ally to Megan as they try to figure out who is targeting her friends. The mystery surrounding Kirstie drew me in deeper as I tried to figure out what was going on, & I enjoyed the story. Mention is made of things that have already happened to Megan & her friend Tess at Corpus Christi in Season of Danger: Silent Night, Deadly Night\Mistletoe Mayhem (Love Inspired Suspense) - a book I haven't read, but think it would have been helpful to have read first, as I did get a bit confused in places.
